Next Generation BiOactiVe NAnocoatings (NOVA) is an European research and innovation project funded under the Horizon Europe Programme, with additional support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and UK Research and Innovation. With a total funding volume of €7.5 million, NOVA brings together 14 partners across 9 countries, uniting leading scientists, and industrial experts to develop the next generation of antimicrobial coatings. Our shared vision is to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases in both healthcare and everyday environments. To achieve this, our mission is to simplify and optimize each step of antimicrobial coating development—combining scientific expertise, high-performance materials, and advanced testing methods to deliver ready-to-use, reliable coatings. NOVA takes a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach, addressing the entire value chain from material design to application and validation. Each partner contributes targeted know-how to ensure innovation, quality, and real-world impact in the fight against infectious diseases.
