In the BIOSAFIRE project, new bio-based flame retardants will be developed using raw materials of renewable origin (lignins and tannins), which will be applied in different sectors: marine, railway, hosehold appliances and coatings for wood (construction).
These are intended to replace those currently used, which are more toxic than the new generation to be developed.
To ensure that the products to be developed are safe for both human health and the environment, they will be analysed using the SSbD framework throughout the project.
