The EASI-STRESS project aims to revolutionize industrial residual stress management in metals, potentially enabling 15% material savings. The project has already produced valuable data from measurements on benchmark samples, analyzed by multiple instruments. The data has revealed both similarities and discrepancies between different measurement methods, emphasizing the need for standardization and best practice guidelines. EASI-STRESS is working on harmonized measurement procedures, data file structure and data treatment. Moreover, the project has been behind opening a CEN working group on diffraction to develop an official standard document for residual stress measurement. In the final stage of the project, real industrial components are being analysed. The project partners are already offering semi-standardized synchrotron and neutron measurement services to industrial clients.
