PhD Vacancy

The Centre for BioNano Interactions (CBNI) is a leading European Centre for BioNano Interaction science, and draws together specialists from its Universities, Institutes, and companies. The centre is a multi-‐ disciplinary platform for nanosafety, nanobiology and nanomedicine, and is pioneering many of the new techniques and approaches in the arena. CBNI seeks to set standards through commitment to excellence in research and innovation, blended with caution and attention to detail in science, and public dissemination.

The Centre requires an Industrial Knowledge Transfer Fellow who is ambitious, high-‐calibre graduate with at least an Upper Second Class Degree in a subject related to the needs of the CALIN Operation. Projects are industrially focused and cover areas including:

  • Nanobioscience, nanomedicine, nanodiagnostics, nanosafety
  • Health impact of nanoparticles
  • Applications of bionanoscience for therapy and diagnostics
  • Novel and creative uses of nanoscale science for advanced life science innovation.

The individual will facilitate knowledge and technology transfer through innovative 3-4yr research activities to allow businesses to solve long-‐term, strategic issues. IKTF post is therefore business driven collaborative training position that will provide the fellow with the required career development stream to kick-‐start their career in industry. The industrial partners will provide support, supervision and direction throughout the research activity. In addition to research delivery, the Associate will also contribute  to workshop events and network conferences where they will present case-studies.

The CALIN project is part-funded by ERDF under the Ireland Wales Programme 2014-2020
