Aims and Objectives

 Most of the WGs in the NanoSafety Cluster include within their objectives specific types of modeling (e.g., material properties, exposure, hazard). The aim of WG6 is to provide a common area for discussion and information exchange on nanosafety modeling. Topics of this WG include:

  • Computational characterization of nanomaterials
  • Algorithms and methods for nanosafety data mining
  • Algorithms and methods for model development and validation
  • Guidance on model interpretation and use

Recent Activities

 Up to now, the main activities of WG6 have been in the context of the FP7 NMP Projects and the COST Action MODENA.

  • Participation in the Harmonization of the activities of the NMP Modeling Projects
  • Basic guidelines for nano-QSAR development and validation
  • Participation in the activities of the US-EU Communities of Research

Upcoming Activities

  • Monthly teleconferences (the last Monday of the month at 3pm CET)
  • Continuation of the activities related to modeling started within the Harmonization of the NMP modeling projects
  • Collaboration with other initiatives such as the European Material Modeling Council (EMMC
